BARDO
Inclusion, Equity & Diversity Policy
Last updated: July 2025

At BARDO Inclusive, inclusion is not a box to tick. It is the heartbeat of who we are and how we work. We exist to create more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable cultures — and we hold ourselves to that same standard.

This policy sets out our values, commitments, and actions to embed inclusion, equity, and diversity across every aspect of our organisation.
1. Our Vision
We believe every individual has the right to be seen, heard, and valued. Inclusion is not just about who is at the table, but how power is shared, whose voices are amplified, and whether people feel safe to bring their whole selves.
We aspire to build environments where:
-
Difference is celebrated, not just tolerated
-
Power and privilege are acknowledged and rebalanced
-
Curiosity, courage, and compassion shape our decisions
-
Structural barriers are actively dismantled
2. Our Values in Practice
Our approach to inclusion is guided by the following principles:
-
Equity: We recognise that fairness does not mean sameness. We aim to remove systemic barriers and provide targeted support where needed.
-
Intersectionality: We understand that people experience inclusion and exclusion in overlapping ways based on race, gender, disability, neurodiversity, age, class, sexuality, faith, and more.
-
Neuro-inclusion: As specialists in the neuroscience of behaviour, bias, and belonging, we embed brain-friendly practices that support cognitive and emotional safety for all.
-
Accountability: We are open to feedback and continually evolve our practices. We believe learning is lifelong.
-
Joy and Justice: We combine rigour with radical hope. Inclusion should not just prevent harm, but actively foster wellbeing, innovation, and joy.
3. What We Commit To
In our team and partnerships:
-
Recruit, work with, and platform people from underrepresented and marginalised groups
-
Provide fair pay, flexibility, and psychological safety
-
Design inclusive ways of working that embrace neurodiversity, disability, and lived experience
-
Listen to feedback and take action to improve how we work with others
In our services:
-
Build learning experiences that are accessible, culturally aware, and evidence-based
-
Challenge bias and inequity with humility and rigour
-
Use language and content that reflects and respects diverse identities and experiences
-
Create psychologically safe spaces where discomfort can lead to growth
In our systems and decisions:
-
Audit our policies, platforms, and partnerships for exclusionary practices
-
Apply inclusive design thinking to everything from events to websites
-
Stay informed of evolving good practice and legal duties under the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty (where applicable)
4. Governance and Review
This policy is reviewed annually or when there are major changes in our work. We welcome feedback and may also consult external advisors or community voices to strengthen our practice.
